House Bill 114 Brings Stricter Polices on Vapes

Dear Dawson Bulldog Parents,
I hope this letter finds you well and finishing up a well-rested summer. I am writing to inform you about a recent development that concerns the well-being and safety of our students. Texas has implemented new, stricter consequences for students found in possession of Vapes within school premises. It is crucial that we all remain vigilant and informed about these changes to ensure a secure learning environment for our children.

Effective immediately, vapes are now treated in the same disciplinary category as marijuana, as per House Bill 114. This means that if any student is found with a vape, regardless of its contents, they will face serious consequences. Specifically, any student caught in possession of a vape will be subject to an automatic assignment to the disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP).

As educators and parents, we share the responsibility of guiding our children and helping them make responsible choices. Vaping can have detrimental effects on their health and well-being, and it is essential that we work together to prevent any instances of vaping within our school community.

I kindly request your assistance in ensuring that your children are aware of the updated regulations and understand the seriousness of the consequences for possessing vapes. Encourage open discussions with your children about the risks associated with vaping and the importance of making wise decisions.
By maintaining an open line of communication between school and home, we can reinforce a united front against vaping and other harmful behaviors.

I encourage you to engage in conversations with your children, emphasizing the significance of adhering to the school rules and policies. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school administration or myself.

Sincerely,

Stacy Henderson
