Dawson Varsity Cheerleaders Bring Joy to Senior Olympics Event
Corsicana, TX – On September 13th, the Dawson Bulldog Varsity Cheerleaders had the honor of attending the Senior Olympics Event at the First Baptist Church of Corsicana. The event, organized by Bristol Hospice, Guardian Home Healthcare, The Village at Heritage Oaks, and Legacy Nursing & Rehabilitation, brought together residents from various local living centers.
Residents arrived by the van full, greeted with enthusiasm by the cheerleaders who lined up to welcome them with smiles and their spirited fight song dance. The day was filled with games, prizes, and the joy of connecting with residents from other communities.
Senior Cheerleader Kaylee Payne shared her heartfelt thoughts, saying, “Having a mother that worked in nursing homes for years, I know that doing little activities like this for the residents means the world to them. Being a part of that, and seeing the smiles on their faces made my day.”
The event was a resounding success, with smiles all around from staff, volunteers, cheerleaders, and residents. Erin Barnett, another senior squad member, expressed her joy, stating, “The excitement and happiness displayed by everyone involved filled me with joy. I smiled the entire time I was there.”
Junior Henlee Brooks added, “It made me happy seeing that such a small gesture for the residents brought them such excitement and happiness. I loved every second of it!”
The Dawson Varsity Cheerleaders' participation in the Senior Olympics Event not only brought joy to the residents but also left a lasting impact on the cheerleaders themselves, highlighting the power of community and the importance of giving back.
